Educational Background: Dr Newell graduated from Canyon High School, Castro Valley in 1967. From 1972 to 1977 he attended The Palmer College of Chiropractic Davenport IA. In 1973 he completed an EMT degree course from University of Illinois. He obtained his California X-RAY supervisor and operator permit in 1979. He also completed various professional educational courses and seminars since.
Military Background: 1968-1972 Active duty USN. 1969 ClassA Navy Hospital Corps School at Balboa Hospital San Diego. 1969 - 1971 Navy Corpsman stationed W /USMC-MCRD San Diego CA. 1971-1972 Tour fo Duty Vietnam as Independent Duty 2nd Class Navy Corpsman Search and Rescue on a helicopter aboard USS Fox DLG 33 Guided Missile Brigade. 1972 Honorably discharged from active military service with US Military Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal awards.
